Driving along the coast road south of Clifden, and not far from the site of the Alcock and Brown Memorial which commemorates the "successful" crash landing of the first non-stop flight from Newfoundland to Europe, I came across this tattered old curragh tucked among the yellow seaweed. It didn't look like it would be seeing action again, but who knows? The crudely painted name charmed me and I decided I wanted to do Marie Catherine's portrait. |
